This is Jasmine Burkitt is a 16 year old college student, who stands at a merely 3ft 8 inches tall and can only fit into clothes designed for a 7-8 years old. The series is set on bbc 3, and is a documents of Jasmine and the obstacles she faces in life. The series are social realism as it is based on Jasmine teenage years, although the documentary shows Jasmines struggles, it also shows how she overcomes these obstacles she faces in everyday life. The set of ideologies promoted by the series are presented in a positive way showing that even being small you can still achieve and exceeded in life in all aspects, it also promotes a strong sense of equality. Therefore disability is represented in a positive way in these series.
Stephen Hawking’s is regarded as one of the most intelligent human on earth, he is a English theoretical physicist and cosmologist, and is known worldwide for his book ‘a brief history of time’ all this despite having a motor neurone disease that is related to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a condition that has progressed over the years and has left him almost completely paralysed. However in the media world he is represented positively due to his work and contributions to science, rather than his disability, they often claim that having the disability makes Stephen much more unique.
The photo too your left is an image of Andy and Lou out of little Britain which is a social realism and fantastic T.V sitcom, which is known throughout all of Britain. However Andy is claiming to be paralysed from the waist down and is in constant care with Lou however we soon discover that Andy can indeed use his legs and is freely moveable, which is presented in several scenario’s in little Britain. The set of ideologies that are presented in the sitcom can be decoded as negative as people may see that disabled people are taking advantages of several different scenarios and objects such as disabled parking and free access to certain areas. It may also claim that they are lazy and often depend on constant care. Therefore little Britain represents disability in a negative way.
