This is one of the images i have been playing around with on media, cxhanging the background to a dark grey scale, i fill makes the image stand out more. then using a stencil and charcoal effects which makes the picture bold and straight forward, i then used a darker outline around the main image.

This magazines has a limited background colours which in its own effects creates a eye catching effect, due to the lack of contrast and colours, but the final colours used of green is eye catching and bright which will grab the audiences attention. This magazine would be that off an older aged target audience due to the black and white (dullness) photos and general dullness of the magazines front cover. It has some layers, however nowhere near as much as the rwd magazine as seen above, with little advertisement and detail, this emphasises that the magazine may be aimed at a older aged audience, the text used on the front of the magazine is very dull and boring, only using a serif font.
The colours used in this front cover music magazine are bright and eye catching to the audience, the colours could also indicate at which age the magazine is aiming for, due to the bright colours and several layers I would suggest that this magazine is aiming for a younger/youthful audience. The use of several fonts in this cover is more catching and shows that the magazine is not going to be dull and boring but in fact interesting and full of life and excitement, the fonts mainly used are sans serif, which makes it more bold and outstanding to the audience’s eye. One of the main reasons for why I like this music magazine front cover is the depth in layers and detail, as you can see there are several layers showing different aspects of the magazine and also they have used several different tools to show different affects. Because of the rather unusual background loads of bolder colours can be used to make the cover more appealing and eye catching. The mast-head itself indicates that it is a music magazine due to the rewind icon next to it is also very clear and easy to understand, with little interference with the masthead it makes it clear, another good point about the magazine is the photography used which has been edit then moulded together, the photographer used a low angle shot to show dominance and power to the music acts The only criticism. I have of this magazine is it does not show any bar-code, date or issue number, but apart from those point I really like this ‘RWD’ magazine.

Here is another font I have selected, the reason for why I have selected this font is because its very unique and different to other fonts as you can see from the bottom one, it has alot of depth and levels. I also believe these font would fit in well with my magazine genre, as some a big and bold for example the top one, however some as small and fancy for example the bottom ( more decorative).
Here is some of the font i have been looking at to use in on my magazine front cover from http://www.blogger.com/. the reason for why I have choosen this font is because it fits in welkl with my magazine genre which is 'indie' i also enjoy the use of serif and sans serif within the texts, its also bold and clear.

My front cover and contents page

for both my front cover and my contents page, i used photoshop. There are several different skills and tools that you can use to add different affects and level, one of the main tools I used was dafont, http://www.dafont.com/ this website allows you to select a specific font that you wish to use, these fonts can be used for mastheads, or subheadings. another skill that became usefull for me is the magic marker, which allows you to crop aorund work with hardly touching the picture.
